"There are more chairs in the room opposite if you need them."

"There are more chairs in the room opposite if you need them."

Is "opposite" adjective in this sentence? I think it can't be a preposition, as it hasn't any noun follow the opposite.

Can we rewrite as?

"There are more chairs in the room which is opposite if you need them."

It's an adjective. Forget your rewrite - it's clunky and inelegant.
