There are many arguments both for and against children having to wear a school uniform.

Hello all,
I have two questions:
First: Are these three sentences punctuated correctly ( the italic part)?
Second: Are the bold part of each sentences considered as a "Complex sentence"?

As we know complex sentences consist of "at least one independent clause and 1 or more dependent clauses".

"There are many arguments both for and against children having to wear a school uniform. Some people favor uniforms simply because they look smart. However uniforms do more than this because they identify you with a particular school which can help to reduce truancy and maintain discipline."
