There are a pan of soup and some bowls in the kitchen (?)

Dear all,

I'am now reading the book "Common mistakes at IELTS Intermediate" which states that "There" cannot be left out. For example: We should say "There is a pan of soup and there are some bowls in the kitchen" instead of "There is a pan of soup and are some bowls in the kitchen". What they state is, of course, grammartically right.

However, in this case, I normally say: There are a pan of soup and some bowls in the kitchen". It sounds more natural for me.

Could you please give me advice which one should I follow?
