Vocabulary

Then / carnival personified

Hi teachers,

Excerpts:

Ditto the life of Britney or Oprah or Brad and Angelina or anyone, even Jon and Kate Gosselin, whose personal activities provide us with entertainment.

But what I failed to appreciate then is that human entertainment is not simply a carnival personified.

1. What does 'then' mean?

2. What is 'a carnival personified'?

3. Does 'personified' modify 'carnival'?

Thank you.
