Their poor

Hi. Is it correct to write the phrase "their poor" to refer to all the people who belong to them, similar in concept to the phrase "the poor" to refer to all the people? If yes, could we use virtually all the adjectives that we usually see in the pattern "definite article "the" + adjective"? Thank you in advance for your help.

Well, generally people don't belong to other people. But if you're referring to a group, you could say "their poor," as in "Do Catholics generally take good care of their poor?"
