Their own ?

Hello, experts?

How are you? Hope you are doing fine.

I have some doubt about my ability to use proper pronouns. So I’m asking you.

Would you kindly look at the following sentence?

“Parenting is all about controlling their own emotions through the inner growth.”

What I mean here is that it’s the most important thing that parents need to control their own emotions through the inner growth, when it comes to parenting.

Does the sentence deliver what I mean?

More importantly, does ‘their’ in “controlling their own emotions” in my sentence, refer to parents? Does it sound that way?

Is it OK for me to use this sentence to convey what I mean?

I would very much appreciate your answer.

Thank you for reading.
