Theft and thievery

Hi

Please tell me how common the word thievery is among native speakers.

Thanks,

Tom

PS: I've always used theft.

Not that common. It makes me think of old west train robberies or Victorian children in Oliver Twist. "Robbery" or "mugging" are more common.
