theatrically

Hi, I would like to ask a question about the meaning of this word, in this context:

I think that audiences come to these films on DVD and see all sorts of layers of motivation and cleverness that, perhaps, aren't immediately apparent when you see the film theatrically.

So does "theatrically" mean here "at the cinema"? Because I tend to relate it to the "home theatre" too.
