Theater trivia

Hi

A friend telephoned and asked me if I could settle a friendly argument he was having concerning a piece of theater trivia.

Does it mean his friend wanted to ask him about some unimportant detail that appeared in the movie (it was written by American so I think "theater" here means "cinema")

A friend telephoned and asked me if I could settle a friendly argument he was having concerning a piece of theater trivia . Does it mean his friend wanted to ask him about some unimportant detail that appeared in a movie (it was written by American so I think "theater" here means "cinema") I don't agree. If it were the cinema, an American would have written 'a piece of movie trivia'.

OK, so the question concerned some detail (trivia) that appeared in a theatrical play?
