The works?

Hi,

please I need a correction, since I doubt my sentence is correct:

"The works on the stand have slowed down"

Here I am not sure that "the works" is correct. I need to say "the preparation" or "fabrication of the stand´s parts"

Can have your help?

Thanks

By stand, do you mean a raised, tiered structure for spectators? If so, say 'The work on the stand has slowed down' or 'Work on the stand has slowed down'. 'Works' is incorrect.

HI,

by "stand" I mean a booth for exhibitions. If "works" is wrong, I would be happy to have the correct word.

By "works" I mean the preparation of the stand, fabrication or production.

I´d also need someone to say if it is correct "there is a big work (labour) under the construction of your stand"

Thanks!!!!

The works on the stand have slowed down.

It's OK, but you need the singular.

The work on the stand has slowed down.

I think you may mean this:

A lot of work went into the construction of your stand.

Hi CJ

thank you so much.

I understand I need the singular, ok. Once again translation from Italian confused me :-(

"A lot of work went into the construction of your stand" I think translates what I meant but, I need to forecast something in the future or present, so : "a lot of work goes into the construction of the stand" It doesn´t sound good to me in this case.... ? w

A lot of work goes into the construction of the stand.

It's fine as a general statement of the present situation.

For the future you might want this:

We'll have to put a lot of work into the construction of the stand.
