The word "rusticate"

Hi

Is the word rusticate fairly common amongst native speakers? It's very common on this side of the pond, but surprisingly it's not available in almost all the dictionaries I have -- Oxford Advanced Learner's Dictionary, Mac,illan English Dictionary, etc

Thanks,

Tom

One meaning in the older British universities is to suspend an undergraduate,
ie tell a student to pack his/her bag and 'leave town' for a period of time.
