The word "Fellow"

According to the article at the following URL

http://en2.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fellow

the word "Fellow" is capitalized, and only refers to a person at an academic institution.

My question is, is it also correct to use the the word, lowercased, when referring to a researcher at a private corporation?
