You often see it when you are reading about a hotel and what "extras" it offers guests. You should expect a bed and a shower. But amenities may include a coffee maker in the room, an indoor pool, a little refrigerator, hair dryer, etc.

  • Or, where I work, in the rest room are little amenities, like anti-static spray, hand lotion, mouthwash, etc.

Hi,

'amenities' can also refer to behaviour. Polite people should observe (ie follow, use) social amenities.

ie the pleasant features of social interchange: good manners, etc.

Best wishes, Clive
