The word MOST... is both pronoun and determiner, but...

How to differentiate between those two grammatical categories?

In a sentence: Most computers are/is hi tech stuff the word MOST is said to be a determiner.

In a sentence: Most of the computers are/is hi tech stuff the word most is said to be a pronoun.

What's the difference in meaning between the two?

A word is a pronoun when it replaces the noun. If the noun (computers) is still in the clause, then there isn't a pronoun.
