If there is no negation in a declarative sentence, use "a lot of" instead of "many" or "much" after the verb, and you should be all right. "many" and "much" are OK as a subject (before the verb).

Many of them are already here.
They have many a lot of children.
They have much a lot of money.
They don't have much money.
