The word "hit"

hello, i was wondering if the word "hit" could be used as a substitute for "stab": for instance, if someone gets stabbed in the stomach with a pair of scissors, could you say: "that person was hit in the stomach"?

Top answer

Anonymous could you say: "that person was hit in the stomach"? That won't communicate what you want to say. "hit" does not imply piercing through anything, whereas "stab" does.
