The word "hearing"

Is this sentence grammatically correet?

"I was excited about hearing Celtics winning the game."

Please advise. H. Slovic

The grammar is OK, but the semantics are not. It says that you enjoyed the hearing itself, not the information. I suggest that you mean this: I was excited to hear that the Celtics won.

Or, possibly,

I was excited [to hear / hearing] about the Celtics winning the game.
