Please correct the following text:
The word Black can be a bit offensive to some people because it's got some negative connotations. The most apt euphemism would be African-American. On the contrary, the word White has got many positive connotations associated with it. History can tell you the background for such discrepancies in words' usage.

I would write:

The word "black" can be...

...would be "African-American".

...the word "white" has got...

(Put in quotation marks instead of capitalising).
