The Word "Beget"

Hello. Could you please help me with the meaning of this sentence? It's the sample sentence from my GRE preparation book. The word intended to be taught is "beget". I simply don't understand the sentence. Thank you.

"One good turn may deserve another; it does not necessarily beget another."
