"The" with types of music

Hello! I need your help. Should we use "the" with types of music? The rock, the jazz, the blues and so on.
Thanks a lot in advance!

Hi, No. In general statements, just say 'I like rock'. ' However, if you want to be more specific, say 'I like the rock that Metallica plays, but I don't like the rock that ACDC plays'.

Hi,

No.

In general statements, just say 'I like rock'. 'Jazz is great, too.'

However, if you want to be more specific, say 'I like the rock that Metallica plays, but I don't like the rock that ACDC plays'.

Best wishes, Clive
