(The) wine

Hello English Speakers and Teachers! I'd like to ask you about the use of articles in the follow examples (I am cooking a dish that needs some wine for taste).

Now grab a bottle of wine.
i) Pour some of the wine into the dish.
ii) Pour part of the wine into the dish.
The definite article is required in examples (i) and (i) above, I believe.
But:
Now grab a bottle of wine.
i) Pour a few drops of (the) wine into the dish.
ii) Pour a bit of (the) wine into the dish.
iii) Pour a small amount of (the) wine into the dish.
iv) Now pour a glass of (the) wine for yourself! Emotion: smile

In the 4 examples above, although the wine has already been referenced, I think the definite article is optional (especially with the glass). I prefer to drop it.

Is this right? Thanks for your help.

LarryQ The definite article is required in examples (i) and (i) above, I believe. Correct. I would also use "the" with measurements: Measure out 2 tablespoons of the wine and add it to the gravy.

(The following is US usage.)

i and ii of the first example are correct. You cannot omit "the" in either sentence.

i, ii, iii, and iv of the second example are correct without "the" - "the" can optionally be used in i, ii, and iii. However, in iv "the" would not be used. The reason is that the sequence of words, "a glass of the wine," although grammatical, is difficult to pro
