The white church

Hi,

The main building was the white church in the centre of the park.

If I am mentioning the white church for the first time, is the definite article before white church okay? I put it there because I think it's pretty definite (since it is clear where the church is = in the centre of the park).

Thank you,
Doris

Yes. It's OK. It's rather like saying There was a church in the centre of the park. The church was the main building.

In a way, you have an implied first mention embedded in the sentence.
