The "while" comma

I often get confused as to whether I should use a comma before "while." Take this for example:

The door burst open and a young man rushed out of the room, while covering his left eye with his hand.

I feel that there is a pause there after "room," no?

Hi, I think that the punctuation should be the following: The door burst open, and a young man rushed out of the room while covering his left eye with his hand. You need a comma before "and" because the sentence is complex. You don't need a comma before "while".
