How would you phrase this?

Which is correct?

Is it correct to start the sentence “The way you describe...”?

The way you describe him, he’s a selfish person living off his parents. That’s not him at all.

The way you describe him, you’d think he’s a selfish person living off his parents. That’s not him at all.
