The way of use of 'discuss'

Hello,

Would anyone tell me which of the following sentences is commonly used.

I personally feel native speakers commonly use #1.

Even if I am right, how about #2?

Is #2 is grammatically correct?

Even if #2 is grammatically correct, is it a strange way of use?

1) I'd like to discuss the matter with my parents.

2) I'd like to discuss with my parents about the matter.

Thank you for your help in advance.

Yes, #1 would be the common usage for the word "discuss."

If you wanted to use a structure such as the second, you would need to change the verb to one such as "talk," since to "discuss about..." is not really the correct usage.

I hope this helps.

Dear Hiroshi,

As you said #1 would be the right choise, but #2 is possible as well(not in wide usage).

Hope it helps

Hi,

My feeling is that #2 is substandard.
