The verbs of the same form in every tense

Hallo

There are some verbs of my concern I would like to ask for. They are: bet, let, cost, cut, hit. Let me provide some sentences:

1) It cost a lot.

2) They cut it.

3) He hit it.

4) I let you speak.

Is it a way to recognise whether they refer to the present simple or past simple tense?

Is there a way to recognise whether they refer to the present simple or past simple tense? (1) and (3) can only be in the past tense: the present would be 'It cost s a lot' and 'He hit s it'. For the others, you can only tell from the surrounding context and/or the tense of the other verbs around them.
