The verbs modified by a noun

The protagonist is camping out in a forest.
He just now sensed a danger.

I opened my eyes the barest slits and tossed, as if in sleep, so that my right hand fell near the haft of my blade. I maintained my slow breathing pattern.

I think "the barest slits" modifies "opened."
So, I was wondering if there are any other verbs can be modified by a noun except for "open."
Thank you in advance for your help.

Dear asker: This is a process adjunct you are inquiring about. Two subclasses of these adjuncts --- manner and means adjuncts --- can be realized by noun phrases, but these are expandable to prepositional phrases and their prepositional "origins" are obvious: I opened my eyes [by] the barest slits Some other examples include They were walking single file . I'd like to send this parcel air mail .
