Vocabulary

the verb 'to fetch' in AmEng

Hi,

How to say "one dollar fetches 53 Indian Rupees" in AmEng?
(I understand speakers of AmEng don't use 'to fetch' in this and similar contexts?)

Thank you!

'The rate of exchange is 1 USD=53 INR.'

'One US dollar is worth 53 Indian rupees.'

This would not be entirely out of the question in the US today. For example, in the ritzier travel guides you might hear something like: "In New Delhi your dollar will fetch 53 rupees on the exchange market."
