I do agree with the statement “The value of money should be taught as part of the school curriculum.”
In my personal opinion, I believe that the value of money and its management should be taught in school since this would turn into a key aspect for the future of students. It is well known that money, in and of itself, is not very spectacular. Nevertheless, what money can do for you is what is important.
Almost everybody has listened at some point in his or her life that money is the least important thing in the world. For many people, however, its importance is practically equal to the importance of air. In addition, yes, you may say that these people are materialistic. Nevertheless, I do not believe that they are necessarily overly materialistic. If we look at this topic in an objective way, money is the possibility for you to have freedom and many choices. You can decide where and how you want to live, but just when you have a good income or financial resources.
If we take a second to reflect a little bit, we can also realize that the learners come from homes where their loved ones and close ones are in debt or have many economic problems. So having a subject that teaches how to invert, how to use correctly the money, how to be aware of the frauds. They will be thousands of times more aware of the things to take into consideration before ask for loans or mortgages from banks.
