The using of "Of"

I found a setence that start with word "of".

It confused me, such as: "Of the problems in the above list, shortest paths provideds the easiest examples."

So the question is what would be different if I start with "In the problems in the above list, shortest..."

Can you tell me if that would will be the same or not?

Well, the rest of your sentence is not quite correct either, but I'll say that you could use 'in'-- but it wouldn't be natural. The original is the natural way ('Of the...).
