The use of "While"

Hello, guys!

Here is the example:

"The old part of the city occupies the top of a mountain, while the modern one lies at the foothill."

Is it ok to use "while" in such situations? What other conjunctions can be used instead of it?

It's fine. You can also say 'whilst' (mainly British).
