The use of ward off

Hi

Is this sentence OK?

She put up her hand to ward off the attacker.

[in a sense that we involuntarily put up our hand(s) to defend our head when someone attacks us]

Thanks,

Tom

It is technically correct but would sound more natural in saying, "She raised her hand to ward off the attacker."

She put up her hand to ward off the/her attacker. Seems natural to me. Emotion: smile
