The use of the word 'pain'

When describing a certain.....well..pain or injury, is it correct to say "it pains when i move my....."? This is instead of saying "it hurts when i..."

I wouldn't say that. I believe that "pain" can be intransitive, but I never use it that way.
The only use of the verb "pain" I use is for non-literal, emotional "pain": "It pains me to hear you speak that way about your sister."

"It hurts when I (move my arm this way.)" sounds better to me.
