The use of the word "materialistic"

Hi

Can we use the word “materialistic” with the word “approach” or “things”? If no, then which adjective would fit in these sentences?

She wasn't really impressed by materialistic things.
It was a rather materialistic approach.

Thanks,

I like your second sentence, but not the first. 'Things' are by their nature materialistic. You will have to explain your intent before I can suggest an alternative adjective.
