The use of terror and fear

Hi

Please look at these sentences. Do I understand them correctly?

There was terror in his eyes. [he looked terribly afraid]

There is a terror in a lion's eyes. [The lion's eyes are terribly frightening]

Any suggestions are welcome.

Thanks,

Tom

I think you are on the right track, however, your use of the adverb "terribly" is a little off.

Terribly is the adverb form of terrible not terror. Meaning awfully, abominaly, abysmally, atrociously, rottenly or in your use as an intensifyer meaning frightfully.

I would like to offer a better understanding of your sentenses.

There was terror in his eyes.
