As technology advances, individuals are increasingly using social media, and some argue that social media is replacing face-to-face interaction among many people in society. I agree with that viewpoint and I will explain why.
First, social media allows us to connect with a large number of individuals who share our interests and hobbies and maybe those people can meet our other half. Second, students studying abroad, for example, can use Skype, Facebook, or a variety of other apps to keep in touch with their relatives and friends on a daily basis. Last but not least, in a pandemic like the Covid 19 Pandemic, when we can't talk normally due to the disease, social media is the best way to communicate.
However, everything has drawbacks, and social media is a double-edged sword in that if we use it too much, we will gradually lose soft skills like communication and reflexes, as well as social skills like presentation, situational awareness, and the ability to handle challenging situations. Overusing social media will turn us into nomophobia. Last but not least, many people are so addicted to social networking sites that they spend their evenings staring at their screens instead of paying attention to the people around them, which decreases the family relationship and the connection of family.
To conclude, I believe that in a new generation of modern worlds like this, it is ordinary for social networks to replace classical communication but what is too much is not good. Sometimes, we need to communicate with others directly.
