Which of these would you say is correct and why?

#1 Starting a business or WANTING to update the look of it?

#2 Starting a business or WANT to update the look of it?

Just not sure which is more professional or at minimum grammatically correct.

Neither really works because here 'it' can only refer to a new business - how do you update a business you are only just starting?
