the use of "bend"

It(Sheherezade: a symphonic suite) is a most glamorous sound too; something entirely new in the music of the late 19th century, one obviously bent a few years in Hollywood 50 years later.

What is the meaning of "bent" in this sentence?
Thanks

It's an incorrect useage of bent. The sentence as a whole is very poorly written. I googled up the original essay - a piece on St Petersburg - and it has quite a lot of errors in it.

Strange indeed. Perhaps he/she wants to say "compressed."

Maybe the intention was to say "bent for Hollywood" - destined for Hollywood - on the way to Hollywood - something like that.

I see.
The narrator is not an English native speaker. So it is very likely to be an error.
Thanks, guys.
