The use of parallel

Hi

Do you find the use of parallel natural here? Any suggestion is welcome.

I don't see any parallel(s) between these two stories.

He awakened from a disturbed sleep and found his death lying parallel to him.

Thanks,

Tom

In my opinion, the first is natural and the second is not. "Parallel" as a technical term is out of style in the second sentence. , "a parallel universe; a parallel existence," then some clarification is needed.

If your intention is to use it in a technical sense, eg., "a parallel universe; a parallel existence," then some clarification is needed. Otherwise, I think "next to him" would suffice.
