The use of "Odds and ends"

Hi

If I open my drawer and find a few books, two or three letters, a locket and an old ring. Can I call them odds and ends?

Does it sound OK?

What's in your drawer?

Nothing but a few odds and ends.

Thanks,

Tom

" Maybe others would. The doorknob that you replaced, some extra screws, the thing you use to light your grill, a lightbulb for the lighting fixture that you don't have anymore, the dog's old collar... those are odds and ends.

I don't think I"d refer to books and letters as "odds and ends." Maybe others would.
