The use of liklihood

Hi

Is this sentence correct and natural--especially the use of likelihood?
There was a strong liklihood that he could be killed in the accident.

Sounds OK, Mr T, but there's an 'e' missing from your 'likelihood'. Perhaps 'could have been killed'? The accident has already happened, hasn't it?
