The use of installments

Hi

Is the use of installments OK here?

Her room was so big and had so much furniture that she used to dust/clean it in installments.

Thanks,

Tom

Not really. Possible "in stages" might work.

The task was large and I finished in in multiple sessions.

So, would the phrase "in sessions" sound natural to native ears in the original sentence?

My room is so large that I clean it in stages.
