The use of "harbinger"

Hi

Could you please tell me if the word harbinger would sound natural in everyday spoken English?

Thanks,

Tom

I hear it quite a bit. Perhaps not in the neighborhood pub, but your average radio talk show host wouldn't hesitate to use it.

Not to me it wouldn't. I don't believe I've heard or read the word more than once in the last 20 years.

Oh well, I was in my car on break, and listening to a talk show. You'll never guess what word one of the guests used!

How embarrassing.
