The use of "hale and hearty"

Hi

Could a native speaker please tell me how the use of "hale and hearty" sounds in informal letters/emails? For example:

I hope you people are hale and hearty.

Does it sound natural? Stilted?

Thanks,

Tom

Yes, it sounds OK, but 'hale and hearty' is a rather old-fashioned expression.

Many thanks, MM. So any other suggestion please?

I usually just write 'I hope you are all well' or 'I hope you are all healthy and happy'. Others may have another phrase they use.

just today my mom used this phrase in an email:

"did your illness respond to the prescribed antibiotics? hope you are feeling hale and hearty."

this would be an example of proper use.

Hi,

Well, not completely proper, because your mom didn't use capitals aa the start of her sentences.

It's a real struggle to teach English learners to do this.
