The use of "flatten"

Hi

Do you find this sentence natural, especially the use of "flatten"?

He flattened her with a single blow.

Thanks,

Tom

The expression is natural and common, perhaps more so in my day than in yours. It doesn't mean to roll her out with a steam roller, making her "flat" in that sense. It's more in the sense of "causing" her to become prostrate, or "flat" on the floor/ground.

  • Perhaps "flat on the floor" is an idiom, as is "he flattened her," I'm sure.
