The use of "ever"

Hi

Is the use of "ever" as a question OK here?

A - Then why didn't you tell her about it all these months?
B - Well...I didn't have a chance.
A - (Surprised) Ever have a chance?

That certainly seems to make more sense, as an abbreviation of "You('ve) never had a chance?".
