The use of deliberate

Recently, my English teacher corrected me in a writing that deliberate is an adjective. However, I found this word has a verb form in a dictionary.

Do you guys find it weird to use in a verb form or ever use it as the meaning of "consider".

Thanks

There are a good many instances of -ate that can cause confusion such as:-
"The house was situate on the hill." (archaic)
"When I separate the two they become separate."

Just do a google for this expression (include the quote marks) -

"deliberated the matter"
