The use of DE or de in a name.

When is it proper to use De or de as in De Montfort University or Simon de Montfort.

Thanks,

LL

Hi,

A couple of small further comments.

1. You should capitalize the word 'de' if it begins the sentence, eg De Montfort was a prominent English figure in the history of the Magna Carta.

2. I believe the name is spelled with a 't' - de Montfort, for both the baron and the university.

Best wishes,
