The use of articles

Hello everybody,

Can you please tell me if this sentence is correct? I have doubts about the use of articles.

This sentence is from my composition in which I describe my summer holidays in a small town.

Should there be "views" or "the views", on "the hillsides" or on "hillsides"?

"There is nothing like the views of grazing horses on the hillsides".

Thank you

Top answer

There is nothing like the view(s) of horses grazing on the hillside(s). If there is only one view, use the singular; if you can see the horses from several angles or on several occasions, use the plural. And if there is only one hillside, use the singular; if there are more, use the plural.

  • There is nothing like the view(s) of horses grazing on the hillside(s).
  • If there is only one view, use the singular; if you can see the horses from several angles or on several occasions, use the plural.
  • And if there is only one hillside, use the singular; if there are more, use the plural.
