The usages of "as"

The protagonist is one of royal family members of Amber, who can communicate with someone, teleport to somewhere using magical cards, Trumps.
He made a date with Coral, a daughter of the prime minister from a neighboring country Begma.
And he went out with her, showing her the town, and he didn't keep her from going further away by herself.
He came back to the palace by himself.
Her younger sister, Nayda asked him about whereabouts of her sister at table, he answered he didn't know, but he got, in the conversation, an impression that Nayda crushed on him.
He just now visited her quarter to ask her to cover for Coral, as finding her.
She is now helping him find her sister and badgering him, as him trying to draw a Trump to communicate with Coral.

"Never mind," I told her.
"All right," she said. "It's probably not that important."
I decided against rising to that bait, because I was suddenly getting something. As had occasionally happened in the past, my concentration on the Trump as I put the final touches to it was sufficiently intense to reach through and. . . .
"Coral!" I said, as the features moved, perspectives shifted.

I'd like to know if "those" is omitted after the first "as," and the "as" means "like."
And I'd like to know if the second "as" means "when."
